Making Favre Leuba the first watchmaker to introduce a mechanical depth gauge during the 1960s, Bathy 160 was an icon of that era. In 2018, the Maison paid tribute to this iconic timepiece with the Raider Bathy 120 MemoDepth, a diving instrument that sits as a crown jewel within the brand's selection with unique elements and unprecedented functionality.

Depth Gauge

A Rarity In The Watchmaking World

The 200m water-resistant Raider Bathy 120 MemoDepth can indicate a diving depth of up to 120 metres. It performs this measurement with a simple but unconventional technique, wherein the water is allowed to enter the watch through a special chamber that houses a copper membrane. The perforation provided on the caseback allows the water to enter this chamber, which is hermetically sealed from the one containing the watch movement, thereby protecting the watch while measuring vital information necessary during a dive.

Aneroid Sensor

Excelling Ingenuity

The copper membrane inside temporarily deforms as a result of the increasing water pressure entering the chamber, and this information is registered by a mechanical aneroid sensor and relayed to the blue depth hands visible on the dial.

Current Depth

Elevating Dive Experience

Raider Bathy 120 MemoDepth made waves with its unique capability of reading the current depth. The current depth of up to 120 metres is read off using the central blue hand on a linear scale marked on the outer edge of the dial. A fine scale allows a detailed reading for the first 30 metres of depth.

Decompression Stops

Intricate Diving Specs

Two red markings between 3 and 6 and 9 and 12 visible on the outer edge of the dial indicate to the diver the most important decompression stops that should be undertaken during ascent.

Reading the Maximum Depth

MemoDepth

The Raider Bathy 120 MemoDepth also comes with a memory function. The sub-dial at 3 o’clock shows the maximum depth one has reached during a dive. As the diver descends and depth increases, the central as well as the small blue hands rotate clockwise to indicate the current depth. A gear mechanism ensures that the pointer on the sub-dial stops at the maximum diving depth so it can be reliably read off on a graduated scale. Meanwhile, the central blue hand rotates anti-clockwise to indicate the current depth during the ascent.

Movement

In-House Calibre FL321

The in-house calibre FL321 powering the Raider Bathy 120 MemoDepth is a hand-wound movement based on the Eterna Calibre 39. The Maison re-designed the movement to empower depth gauge and power reserve indicator functions. It enables the watch to run autonomously for 65 hours.

Dial

A Nucleus Of Functions

The neatly-arranged dial showcases a petite date window at 6 o'clock, accompanied by a power reserve indicator at 12. The hours are characteristically marked by appliqued indexes, adroitly matched by luminous hands. A running seconds indicator is positioned at 9, whereas the maximum depth indicator is placed steadfastly at 3. The sensible use of colours on the dial creates a captivating aesthetic.

Strap

Strengthening Utility

The watch comes paired with a sturdy black rubber strap, detailed pleasantly with the house name and secured with a polished steel buckle. The strap enhances both the watch's diving capabilities and overall style.
